In this lesson I will show you how to monitor a specific keyword using Google Alerts and how to feed the results into your favorite RSS Reader. I use Google Reader as my RSS Reader. You can use any RSS reader that you like. This is especially important if you want to monitor a specific news item, a market niche (think keywords). By default, Google Alerts sends you an e-mail whenever an article with your keyword shows up in Google.
Create a Google Alert

Change your Deliver to: to Feed

Feed Selected as your Delivery method

Enter your keyword in Search terms

Alert Created

Get the Feed Link

Right click on Feeds and select Copy Link (Copy Link Location for FireFox)
Add the Feed to RSS Reader. In this case we use Google Reader

Click Add Subscription

Paste in the Feed URL you copied earlier

Select create feed


Feed created in Google Reader

Google Alerts Feed created
